Top news this hour is Mississippi State's pathetic win over UAB to become bowl-eligible. Don't get me wrong; I am very happy that we won, but we got lucky. Our defense performed terribly. But, the final point is that we won. Today's Picture of the Day is from Davis Wade Stadium. Thankfully, no beer was poured on me during a touchdown, nor did I run into a pole while exiting the stadium. Both have happened during previous games this season.
During one particular timeout, the MSU meteorology department was honored for its national forecasting championship last year. Yay meteorology!
When we arrived at James' car, some kind people had spread some literature from Pastor Tony Alamo under everyone's windshield wipers. In case you are not familiar with Tony Alamo, this literature includes a short biography: "Tony Alamo is probably the greatest patriot this country has ever known." Yes, even greater than Paul Revere, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and countless others.
In Mr. Alamo's World Newsletter, Volume 10300, he documents an experience in which he "saw him [God]." He was in an office with seventeen other people when God turned off his hearing ability and told him that "Jesus was coming back to earth again." God then commanded Alamo to immediately proclaim this message to the other office occupants. Alamo thought that he might be going crazy, but he explains, "God threatened me, to take my life, if I wouldn't tell them. . . . He began pulling the breath in and out of my body, making me know I was not imagining anything at all." In the next sentence, he clarifies, "Many people have asked me down through the years if I was on drugs at the time, and, of course, I've always told them I was not!"
I'm not making any conclusions about Mr. Alamo or his ministries; that's God's job. I just don't think he should solicit his message illegally.
After we arrived at the apartment, Grant revealed this gem of a video. Please enjoy.
I really hope I am able to blog everyday. Also, I'm hoping to do a Picture of the Day. As always, or maybe as usual, Today's Picks will be a feature.
And, finally, Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to return to rehab.
Today's Picks
- TV Show: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, old version on ABC Family. The old one is so much better than the new one, though I love the music in the new one.
- Food: Some kind of dessert I ate while tailgating: peanut butter wafers dipped in chocolate
- Music: Hail State, Mississippi State's fight song
- Humorous Moment: Grant pretending to be James' mother while driving home from the game. He had the voice of Edith Bunker from All in the Family.
