Well, I finally have something of interest to post (actually, several somethings). I shall number them, in no particular order, because I feel like it.
- Target. My employment at Target has ended, at least for the time being. There's nothing wrong on either side; I had to quit to return to school. Unfortunately, the company was unable to place me on educational leave since I had not worked there for ninety days, but they did say that I was "terminated with eligibility for rehire," and that they would love for me to return. And, if no internships or other opportunities arise next summer, I will likely return. I'm certainly grateful for the job, and I wish them the best.
- St. Louis. My father and I went on a trip to St. Louis, Missouri, to see my beloved St. Louis Cardinals play the Philadelphia Phillies. We have seen the Cardinals play several times, the last of which was documented on this blog (here and here). Unlike last time, when we breezed in two hours before the night game and left immediately after the day game, we took our time and explored some of the suburbs. That was nice, since I wouldn't mind living in St. Louis one day. Our hotel was decent; you can read my review on TripAdvisor. We had an interesting experience attempting to ride the MetroLink, St. Louis' light rail system. I won't go into details, except to say that we lost $4.50 trying to figure out the validation process. By the way, the Cardinals won the night game, and the Phillies won the day game in extra innings.

The view from our seats on Wednesday night, after a short rain delay. - Hot Springs. After returning from St. Louis on Thursday, we took off on Monday to Hot Springs, Arkansas, for a quick and speedy vacation. We mainly shopped and ate (which is true of any vacation of the Hughes family). We were going to ride the Belle of Hot Springs, which is a riverboat that offers tours of Lake Hamilton, but unfortunately an afternoon pop-up thunderstorm ruined those plans. We did stroll down historic Central Avenue in downtown Hot Springs, and I ate a slice of cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a stick. If only it had been deep-fried...
- Apartment / Back to School. I am actively preparing to move back to Starkville in less than two weeks. I am moving into an apartment (really, a townhouse) with two (well, two-and-a-half...more on that later) gentlemen, and we are in the process of figuring out who will bring what. I'm down for living room and patio furniture, since I have great connections (my grandparents), while they are bringing other items. I will certainly post more as this process continues to unravel.
