Senior Trip 2009 - Day 5 (Friday)

Quite an interesting day. Today, we were given the option to split into groups and go to any park of our choice, and we could move from park to park. Of course, I was in the largest group (with 15 others), so staying together and deciding what to do was a challenge. Many people in the group had official titles (and character names from the TV show "The Office". Kevin Clark (Michael Scott) was voted to be the leader of the group, and I (Jim Halpert) was voted to be the transportation engineer/"Tom-Tom". Kelsi Alexander (Ryan Howard) was voted to be my assistant and Josh Vance (Dwight Schrute) was voted to be Kevin's assistant. Other people in our group without official duties but with names included Lauren Bryant as Angela, Lauren Yokell as Meredith, Kurt Nicholson as Creed, Shelby Rumble as Phyllis, Jeff Thompson as Kevin, and Eric Walker as Oscar (not because he's gay, but because he has Mexican heritage).

First, we went to Magic Kingdom and rode Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the teacup ride. Then, after a short hop on the monorail, we went to Hollywood Studios. We ate lunch there and had time to ride Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror one last time. Then, we left for the hotel.

That night, we went to a Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves spring training baseball game at Disney's Wide World of Sports. A few of the guys wanted to go early to watch batting practice, and I went with them. Thanks to Disney Transport (the system of buses that transport Disney guests from their hotels to parks and other attractions), it took us over an hour to go 5 miles to the stadium. However, we were soon appreciative of it because the others were stuck at the hotel because the bus service ended at 7 PM. As a result, Ms. Smeltser had to arrange for seven taxis to come pick them up. They missed the entire first inning of the game.

It was quite apparent that the game was a blowout when in the 5th inning the score was 13-0 (Braves winning). We decided to leave at the end of the 6th inning, riding taxis back to the hotel.

Back at the hotel, our curfew was extended so we could have more fun. While I won't describe everything in detail that happened, some fun events included watching the first Harry Potter movie, straightening Josh Vance's hair and giving Kevin Clark a faux-hawk, and watching Shelby attempt to wash Kevin's hair after that.

We are looking at a full day ahead of us. We have to vacate our rooms by 10 AM but don't leave our hotel until 1:05 PM. I have no idea what time our flight leaves. Watch for the exciting conclusion tomorrow night!
