While looking at some stuff from the University of Oklahoma regarding their Master's degree in meteorology, I discovered that they have a study abroad program with a university in Australia. I have always wanted to go to Australia, and if I went for a semester of school, it would be awesome! It got me thinking about some of my future plans and goals, and so I decided to list them here for all to see. I tried to sort these in order of age.
College
- Major in meteorology/atmospheric sciences
- Possibly minor in music (either choral or instrumental)
- Try to get a Master's degree in meteorology (but maybe not directly after undergrad degree)
- Study abroad in Australia, even if it's just for a week
- Get outside of my box and make new friends
- Stay true to God and not dishonor Him with my actions
Job/Weather
- Get a decent job in the weather field, preferably with the National Weather Service
- Go storm chasing (multiple times, if not every year, if not multiple times per year)
- Save people's lives by issuing severe weather warnings early enough to allow them to get to shelter in time and by researching methods to increase lead times
- Be the news reporter that hangs on to a light pole for dear life during a hurricane (I think I would only like to do this once, if I made it through the first time)
Family
- Find a wife that is undoubtedly a Christian, lives to please God, will love me and my children unconditionally, and is fun to be around
- Have children that are healthy, that will accept Christ as their Savior, and will succeed academically, spiritually, physically, and socially
- Be able to provide for my family with my job so we can live comfortably
- Watch my children grow up to become successful parents
- Go on vacations not just to entertain, but to show my children the wonders of God's creation (in and out of the country)
- Establish a great relationship with my kids early in their lives so that they know I love them regardless of anything they say, do, or don't do
Well, this is all I have at the moment, but I think it's a good start.
